DIY Gone Bad

It is never a good thing to be able to see a houses' innards.
Needless to say, reinforcements are being brought in.

I Didn't Know You Were That Tall!

The First Haircut

Today I just couldn't take Dallin's long locks any more. They would get messy and frizzed up in an instant. They were on the verge of looking like a girl and sometimes he would get really hot and his hair would get all sweaty--gross. It took a lot of courage for me to cut his hair. I was almost shaking when I took the first snip with the scissors.

He did pretty well and was relatively still. I didn't end up taking too much hair off, but I am very pleased with how it turned out. There were a couple of spots in the back that were a little bit stair steppy but it looks cute. Oh my big boy. I didn't cut Cameron's hair yet because it is still manageable and cute. This is just another sign that my babies are becoming little boys.

First Veggie of the Year!

Yay! I love being able to grow and eat produce from our own garden! Here is 1 zucchini down hopefully many more to come! Along with the zucchini we have tomatoes, yellow squash, peppers, berries, and an extensive herb garden. Now if I just had some more good recipes for the herbs... Dallin was very excited to try the first zucchini.

Bathroom Drama

Well, the babies wanted to go exploring outside. I let them.
They wanted to pick up dirt. I let them.
They wanted to pick up rocks and wood chips. I let them.
They wanted to play in the bird bath. I let them.
They wanted to eat dirt. I let them (a little).

Then after all of that fun I was going to let them have a bath. I stuck Cameron in the bathroom while I went to get Dallin. Dallin and I arrived back at the bathroom and found that we were locked out. Not in the usual way of being locked out. Cameron had opened the drawers and the door was unable to open more than 1/2 inch. I couldn't even get my fingers in past the knuckles. I panicked.

What if he fell and hit his head? What if he found a way to open the lid of the toilet.... I was very grateful that I hadn't put any water in the tub yet. I did what I always do in those kind of situations: I called Darin (who was at work). "Get the broom handle and shove the door closed," was all that he could think of. I knew that the broom handle wouldn't fit into the door. "Try and get him to shut the drawer." I tried. He follows instructions almost as well as a blind sponge. I got him to come to the door, but he proceeded to play with the door for a second then go back to whatever he was doing before. Finally a light went on in my head. I headed to the kitchen and grabbed the scissors. With the door cracked open, I was able to reach the scissors in and inch the drawer closed. Finally I was able to open the door and see what Cameron had been doing.

Toilet paper everywhere, mud on everything, trash tipped over, things emptied from the drawers and shelves. He was in fine spirits. Needless to say, I learned a lesson. Never think a baby is too young to start having drama in the bathroom!
