The Mysterious Red!

Darin, the babies, and I have been staying in an adorable little town called Grapevine (TX) for the past week. It is such a charming little town. The following dramatic experience happened to us today...

You can always tell it is going to be a difficult time at church if the babies are fussing even before you enter the doors of the chapel. Well that is how everything was going today. Dallin was especially fussy because of teething (his second tooth is coming in) and the lack of a good nap. We were visiting a ward, so we had only planned on staying for Sacrament meeting. Well we sat down and as the Sacrament began Dallin started to really fuss so right away we had to take him out of his car seat (on a side note, we always leave our babies in their car seats as long as possible during church because they nap and play and do so well in them--I know we are lucky). So Darin had him on his lap and he was trying to crawl over to me to grab at my jewelry. As usual, I took off my bracelet and handed it to him. He immediately put the bracelet in his mouth. Sometimes it really calms him down when he is able to gnaw on something and get his mind off of being tired. Well once he was gnawing away at the bracelet he became so cute. He was smiling and gabbing and making all of the cute noises that he usually does. All of a sudden Darin looked down at his clean white shirt and notices a red patch on it. Huh? Surely Dallin couldn't have spit up on him since his last meal consisted of yogurt and squash--not anything red. Then I noticed some red slobber on Darin's hand. Upon further examination there was red on my dress, and a ton of red on Dallin's white romper collar. I grabbed the bracelet out of Dallin's mouth. I had made the bracelet of red coral. It matched perfectly with my necklace and the red pair of Jessica Simpson shoes I found at the thrift store. Dang. Whatever dye that was used in making the beads had mixed with Dallin's saliva to create the perfect toxic dye for our clothing. (I just hope that he didn't ingest very much if any.) Needless to say I tried to do everything I could to get the red off, but to no avail. The mysterious red has turned into the mysterious stains that litter our clothing from church.

On a side note: The meeting went by slowly as we struggled to keep our kiddos content and happy during the remainder of the time we were there. The messages we heard we uplifting and the choir in Grapevine was amazing especially considering it was a smaller ward. Overall, the mysterious red didn't effect the day too much, but it did add a little bit of intrigue to our somewhat hum drum weekend.

The Big Announcement

Dallin would like everyone to know...

That he now has a tooth!!!(Sort of. It is just beginning to poke out!!!)Yay!

If you can't tell, it is the white diagonal line on the left side of his gums. This is the best picture that I could get and trust me, I tried. I did some research and found out that it is not uncommon for a baby's first two bottom teeth to come in in a 'V' shape (who'da thunk?!). Usually when the teeth come in all the way and when the other teeth start coming in, they straighten out. I don't know for sure that they will straighten out, but I am hoping so.

I have the feeling that Cameron is very close to getting his first tooth also. I am just happy that he actually is beginning to make teething progress!

A Big Event!

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the night time routine--the babies bathing together in the big tub! It went really well considering since there was so much excitement they didn't go to sleep for an hour and a half after the bath. Oh well. C'est la vie! Within the next couple of days I am expecting to post a big event announcement for Dallin--stay posted!

Reminiscing

Darin and I were having a great Valentines Day hanging out together when we recalled a song from our younger years. This song is definitely blogworthy. It is great to reminisce together... Anyways, if you recall this too I hope you enjoy this little flashback.

Cutest Overalls

Sometimes it seems like clothing companies don't take the time to make really cute boys clothes. It always seems like I go into a baby store or a baby department and 3/4 of the clothes are for girls. Also if I do find really cute clothes they are over $15 per piece of clothing. I find it ridiculous to spend $30 on one set of outfits for the boys. So far my absolute favorite brand of baby clothes is the American Living brand from JC Penny. They have some really cute clothes and when you get them on clearance or on sale you can get them for way cheap. Besides American Living at Penny's and Carters, I haven't found any other clothes that I really liked for reasonable prices.

Well last night I went to Walmart and found the cutest baby overalls that put me back a whole $6 each. Not bad. I put the babies in them after church and they were absolutely adorable. Hurray for cheap clothes at Walmart.

Sewing Diva

Well, I have decided to take up a hobby--sewing. I cannot say that I am very good at it, but it is something to keep me occupied in the nanosecond that the babies are sleeping. I have recently made some purses from the Amy Butler pattern "Birdie Sling." I gave away a few for Christmas and hadn't had any time to make one for myself. Finally I had the time and energy to finish one for me. My next idea is to sew a yo-yo quilt. We shall see if that comes to fruition. For now, however, I have this cute purse to use.

Things Sure Happen Fast Around Here!

The babies are getting to be so active! I cannot believe that they are now beginning to explore every corner of their surroundings. It is very exciting! Dallin has also begun to pull himself to a standing position whenever he can. The babies still don't have any teeth but they are sure smiling a lot and having a lot of fun crawling over each other. Eight months is sure an exciting time!
