Reminiscing

Darin and I were having a great Valentines Day hanging out together when we recalled a song from our younger years. This song is definitely blogworthy. It is great to reminisce together... Anyways, if you recall this too I hope you enjoy this little flashback.

Cutest Overalls

Sometimes it seems like clothing companies don't take the time to make really cute boys clothes. It always seems like I go into a baby store or a baby department and 3/4 of the clothes are for girls. Also if I do find really cute clothes they are over $15 per piece of clothing. I find it ridiculous to spend $30 on one set of outfits for the boys. So far my absolute favorite brand of baby clothes is the American Living brand from JC Penny. They have some really cute clothes and when you get them on clearance or on sale you can get them for way cheap. Besides American Living at Penny's and Carters, I haven't found any other clothes that I really liked for reasonable prices.

Well last night I went to Walmart and found the cutest baby overalls that put me back a whole $6 each. Not bad. I put the babies in them after church and they were absolutely adorable. Hurray for cheap clothes at Walmart.

Sewing Diva

Well, I have decided to take up a hobby--sewing. I cannot say that I am very good at it, but it is something to keep me occupied in the nanosecond that the babies are sleeping. I have recently made some purses from the Amy Butler pattern "Birdie Sling." I gave away a few for Christmas and hadn't had any time to make one for myself. Finally I had the time and energy to finish one for me. My next idea is to sew a yo-yo quilt. We shall see if that comes to fruition. For now, however, I have this cute purse to use.

Things Sure Happen Fast Around Here!

The babies are getting to be so active! I cannot believe that they are now beginning to explore every corner of their surroundings. It is very exciting! Dallin has also begun to pull himself to a standing position whenever he can. The babies still don't have any teeth but they are sure smiling a lot and having a lot of fun crawling over each other. Eight months is sure an exciting time!

Favorite Baby Item

I absolutely love this baby product. My cousin gave me two of these at a baby shower and you just put pieces of fresh fruits or vegetables in the mesh part and the baby is able to suck out the pulp and juices without choking. The babies love them and I do. I highly recommend this product to anyone with a seven month old baby (or seven month old twins :0) :0) ).

We Were Good to Santa, So Santa Was Good to Us!

Happy New Year y'all!

We had a wonderful Christmas. It was so exciting to be able to spend Christmas with two cute little babies. We decided to hang out at our house instead of going up to Utah. In some ways we missed our families, but it was fun to enjoy the babies' first Christmas in our own home and to start our own traditions.

We made sure to leave Santa a treat so he would be good to us....
and of course he was!

He brought the babies a new jumparoo (that they absolutely love), he brought Darin some new clothes, and he brought me a home decorating book and a snuggie (I never thought I would be the owner of a snuggie but it is kind of fun).

The babies were also lavishly showered with adorable new clothes and a jogging stroller compliments of grandparents and relatives.

Aside from Christmas, so many other exciting things have happened this month. Darin and I celebrated our fifth anniversary on December 18th. He surprised me with a diamond anniversary band to go with my existing wedding ring and we enjoyed a delicious steak dinner at home. For the occasion I made a lovely vanilla cake that would have been even more amazing if the oven did not char the edges (it was not I who charred the cake--never!).

On our anniversary Dallin began to sit up by himself, Cameron began the next day. I am so proud of them! Since that day, they have become quite good at sitting. Even though Dallin can sit really well, if you put him in a sitting position he will sit there for about thirty seconds then scramble down to go and find something to chew on or play with.

The week of Christmas the babies began scooting around the house. They aren't crawling yet, but they can wiggle over to items and are a little more independant. For some reason, Dallin likes to panic me by wiggling over to things such as cords and electronics which he then starts chewing on. I am sure that I am getting gray hair from this new stress associated with mobility!

As far as our house goes, we have begun the absolutely dreadful process of popcorn ceiling removal. I don't know why people made the decision to have their ceilings look like that. It is a tedious process, but we have already finished three rooms and have about five more to go. I don't want to start to really decorate until the popcorn is removed and the walls are painted. If anyone would like to come to Texas and help remove popcorn ceilings, be my guest. We'll serve you some nice Texas barbecued sausage :)

It has been a great December and the babies have changed so much this month. I look forward to 2010 with much excitement and also look forward to finding a hairdresser with knowledge on how to prevent premature hair graying!

Rice Cereal Adventures

This year for Thanksgiving we ended up hanging out at home with the babies. It was a fun day for us to just be together. We missed our family, but it was nice for us to have a down-home turkey day and not have to try to impress anyone. To commemorate the day of food, we decided to give our babies their first rice cereal. They turned six months old that Monday, so it was about time to feed it to them. It went really well and they ate like champs from their new baby spoons. The rice cereal got everywhere (which is to be expected on the first feeding) but it was a fun way to celebrate the babies' first Thanksgiving.

Fast forward a week and a half.

We have been giving the babies rice cereal almost every day since Thanksgiving. Tonight we were doing our same ritual with the babies and this is what happened with Dallin.

Needless to say, we were confused as to why he so despised the thing that he enjoyed the day before. Even though we did not force him to eat any more, we enjoyed this little random moment amid our crazy life
